summe is a Chrome extension that summarizes web pages using AI. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and who we share it with. We keep it simple because we keep your data minimal.
When you sign up for your free trial, we ask for your email address. We use this to identify you as a user and, if you request it, to send summaries to your inbox. Your email is stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage and is also submitted to Formspree to be delivered to us.
When you click Summarize, summe reads the visible text content of the page you are on. This text is sent to Google's Gemini API to generate your summary. We do not store, log, or retain any page content after the summary is returned.
We do not collect your name, address, payment information, passwords, location, browsing history, or any other personal information beyond your email address. We do not use keystroke logging, mouse tracking, or any form of behavioral analytics.
summe uses the following third-party services to function:
Your email address and free trial usage count are stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in local storage. This data never leaves your device except when your email is submitted at signup.
Your email and usage count remain in your browser's local storage until you uninstall the extension or clear the extension's data. We do not maintain a user database beyond what Formspree receives at signup.
You can request deletion of your email from our records at any time by contacting us. You can also clear your local extension data at any time by going to Chrome settings and clearing the extension's storage.
If you have any questions about this privacy policy, reach out at hello@huds0n.us.
We may update this policy as the extension evolves. The date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent update.
